Como En Casa

At Divemex we created the “Como en Casa” program to support all the collaborators who are part of the group, the vast majority of them come from vulnerable communities in the southern part of the country, seeking better work and personal opportunities.

Divemex offers them a better quality of life, it is the place where they can have a decent home, better treatment, access to better benefits, medical services, personal development and our focus is to create a deep sense of belonging, where they feel like at home, Como en Casa.

  • Improve the quality of life of our workers, their families an the communities.

Buy Fair Trade™ Certified products

Purchasing products that are Fair Trade™ Certified can reduce poverty, encourage environmentally friendly production methods and safeguard humane working conditions. Simply look for the fair trade label on products such as coffee, chocolate or clothing.

The fair trade label means an organization such as Fair Trade USA has certified that farmers and other producers adhere to fair trade standards. The organization audits the product’s supply chain to ensure fair trade prices have been paid. The importer and the processor pay the costs of acquiring a license, which begins the process.

How does the Fair Trade program work?

Divemex employees vote to elect candidates who will participate in the general elections of the Fair Trade Committee later that same day.

  1. Certification: The Fair Trade Certified™ process includes certification that respects strict environmental and social standards that are in line with Divemex.
  2. Label: The Fair Trade Certified™ seal is included on the packaging to easily identify these products.

  3. Premium Collection: Products are sold at a price with an additional premium, which is collected and deposited into a community development fund.

  4. Committee Selection: A Fair Trade Committee – composed of local agricultural workers – is elected to represent their communities and determine how funds raised through premiums will be invested.

  5. Voting: Through a combination of survey results and focus groups, the Fair Trade Committee determines the community’s top needs and organizes a vote with their peers to choose community development projects.

  6. Coordination of Community Development Projects: A team composed of Fair Trade Committee members, Divemex employees, and Fair Trade team members uses funds to address community needs.
