Members of Fundemex and CCE (Consejo Coordinador Empresarial) visited Divemex’s Etzatlán production unit, where they took a tour of the greenhouses and packaging areas to witness the number of people working at Divemex and the different employment opportunities the company generates for nearby communities.

They also had the opportunity to learn about the Fair Trade USA certification, its global reach, and, most importantly, the benefits it provides to Divemex’s workers because of the certification. The presentation on Fair Trade USA was delivered by Nathalie Marin-Gest, who explained in detail the principles and the positive impacts of the certification on the communities and the workers.

The committee members listened to two testimonials from our collaborators. One of them was from Doña Chuy, who received support for an operation to correct her strabismus, a condition she had suffered from since childhood, which had made her early life challenging. Because of her great performance at Divemex and the support from Fair Trade’s USA support, she was able to undergo the eye surgery.

The visit was a great opportunity for the members of Fundemex and CCE to witness firsthand the positive impact that Divemex and its Fair Trade USA certification have on the lives of the workers and the surrounding communities. It showcased how responsible and sustainable business practices can create opportunities, improve livelihoods, and contribute to the overall well-being of individuals and communities.

The collaboration between Fundemex, CCE, and Divemex exemplifies the importance of supporting businesses that prioritize social responsibility and the welfare of their employees. It goes to show how partnerships between organizations can work together to create a positive change in society by promoting Fair Trade practices and empowering workers.
