The worker has a voice at Divemex

My name is José Gregorio

I’ve been with Divemex for 4yrs. now

I am in production and part of my job is to take care of the plants, I apply twine, take out the weeds, we tie string  to the tip of the plant, we adjust it as needed.

After 1yr. I was made a permanent worker, some benefits are: a better salary and in my savings account a little more is deposited.

My problem is in my audition and I was given a hearing aid to have more clarity in my audition.

I got some support with a solar heater and a water tank deposit installed one at home.

I am very happy with my job

Everyone should have a voice in their job, the worker has a voice at Divemex, I feel really good in Divemex because I feel like I am contributing.

I came here because once your chores are finished you can leave for the rest of the day or I can stay if I wish to earn more.

Although at different times in the past I tried to get a Job here and was denied once, twice until finally I got hired, I am unsure if it was due to my age or due to my hearing impairment but I do have a job that I love now.

I have seen that other coworkers which also have some sort of impairments have been granted jobs and they do their jobs with pride and love because we feel grateful for these and other benefits that come with these working conditions.

God be willing I hope that I can keep working here for a long time.

I would like to give a world of thanks to Divemex and to Fair Trade for all the help that we have received.
